BUDGET BEAUTY SERIES: PRIMER

Primer is a step that so many people tend to miss out in their daily make-up routine. I agree, it can be a bit of a thought adding yet another product to your make-up bag, which in turn, add's on more time to your morning make-up routine. But, a good Primer can totally change the way that your base make-up sits on your skin and of course, keeps your foundation looking much fresher all day - no more disgusting patchy foundation at the end of the day!

A primers basic function is to create a layer between your skin and your base products, giving a smooth surface ready for your make-up to adhere to. It create's a barrier between your skin and your foundation and also seals in your skincare applied before the primer, so why doesn't everyone use one?!

My two favourite "budget" primers are:

Max Factor Face Finity All Day Primer - £10.99
(Excuse the mucky lid - it's well loved)

L'Oreal Paris Lumi Magique Primer - £9.99

They are not necessarily the cheapest primer's that are on offer but these are definitely the best one's that I have tried that are a reasonable price (bear in mind, there are primer's on the market that can cost up to £50!!).

The Max Factor Facefinity All Day Primer is a great everyday one as the formula also contains SPF 20 and has no heavy, silicone feel that some other primers do. This primer has a really light texture and has a slightly tacky feel once you apply it which makes it really feel like your foundation is gripping to your skin. I have normal/dry skin and this worked perfectly for me, it also has a slightly mattifying effect once applied, so I couldn't see this being a problem for oily skin either.

I have made my way through around three tubes of the L'Oreal Paris Lumi Magique Primer, I love it. For anyone who likes glowy, luminous skin - this one is for you. It has a really light, silky texture and you can see how light reflecting it is as soon as you pump a small amount out. You really don't need a lot of this, so a bottle lasts a long time. This primer keeps your foundation in place all day and gives the most beautiful glow to the skin - you can even mix this with foundation for an extra illuminated look or even dab straight onto the cheekbones as a liquid highlighter - it is really that light in texture.

Primer really is such an easy step to add to your make-up routine and it really does help your make-up last all day - just one quick step and you can keep your foundation looking great all day. What is your favourite primer? Do you find that they help your make-up stay put all day?
